For content creators and entrepreneurs, the urge to share your journey, success, and even financial progress can be exciting and rewarding. But with the rise of online visibility, many experience a deep-rooted fear of the "evil eye" or al-‘ayn—the idea that others’ jealousy or negative energy could harm your success. As creators, we all want to inspire others, yet this fear can often feel paralyzing. How can you stay true to your goals without constantly fearing that your success might attract envy? In this newsletter, we’ll explore practical ways to protect yourself spiritually and emotionally while thriving in your creative journey.
Overcoming the Fear of the Evil Eye for Creative Entrepreneurs
As a creative entrepreneur, whether you’re an artist, content creator, or business owner, your journey is filled with aspirations and challenges. You put in endless hours, whether it's building your brand, creating content, or making a living doing what you love. But along with this comes a common fear: the fear of the evil eye (al-‘ayn). You share your achievements your hard-earned success, your financial milestones, and even personal victories and yet, there's always that lingering worry:
What if someone envies my success?
What if the evil eye harms me?
The Dilemma of Sharing Success
It's natural for us as creators to want to share our journeys, our wins, and the impact we're making. After all, in today’s digital world, success is often measured by your online presence. You’ve put in the hard work to build your platform, to inspire others, and to offer value. Whether it’s sharing a breakthrough in your creative process, showcasing financial growth, or offering advice to others, you're opening up your life for the world to see.
But as you do so, a small but growing fear often creeps in the evil eye. You know Allah is the best Protector, but how do you overcome the fear that others’ negative energy or jealousy may affect you?
In this newsletter, we will address this very concern, and offer practical and spiritual solutions to help you find peace and relief while continuing to share your journey. It's possible to protect yourself from the effects of the evil eye while maintaining your focus and striving for success.
Let’s dive into how you can deal with these fears and continue moving forward confidently:
1. Put Your Tawakkul in Allah (Trust in Allah)
The first and most important step is to place your full reliance (Tawakkul) in Allah. Remember, no harm or benefit can come to you except by Allah’s decree. Allah promises:
"And whoever puts their trust in Allah, He will suffice them. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a decreed extent." (Surah At-Talaq, 65:3)
This powerful reminder should reassure you that your success and protection lie in Allah's hands. While the fear of the evil eye is real, your success and well-being are ultimately determined by Allah and no one else’s envy can change what has been decreed for you. So, continue your work with the full confidence that Allah has already written your journey, and your reliance on Him should be your foundation.
2. Ruqya: Not Needed Daily, But a Powerful Shield When Needed
Many creatives turn to Ruqya for protection from harm, including the evil eye. However, it’s important to understand that Ruqya isn’t needed daily unless you’re facing specific issues like illness or spiritual disturbances. Instead, you can focus on consistent Adhkar (remembrances), which serve as a powerful shield against harm and negative energy.
Some key daily Adhkar to incorporate into your routine:
Ayat al-Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255) after every prayer and before sleeping.
The last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah (2:285-286) before sleeping.
Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas three times in the morning and evening.
When done regularly, these supplications offer protection, peace of mind, and spiritual defense. Trust that these simple but powerful practices are enough to protect you from harm when combined with sincere reliance on Allah.
3. Add Daily Wird (Dirk) for Comprehensive Protection
Another way to strengthen your spiritual protection is by incorporating collective Wird of your choice into your daily routine. It is important to have a collection of supplications compiled by trusted resource, that includes verses from the Qur'an, salawat upon the Prophet (ﷺ), and other blessed invocations.
This Wird not only provides protection against harm but also helps you maintain balance and focus throughout your day. It’s a beautiful way to ensure that your heart and mind are safeguarded while you focus on your creative work.
4. Avoid Oversharing Personal Matters
As content creators, it’s easy to share every little detail of our lives with our followers. However, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) taught us the importance of keeping some matters private. He said:
"Seek help for fulfilling your needs by being discreet, for everyone who has a blessing is envied." (Tabarani)
To protect yourself from the evil eye, consider these practices:
Be mindful of what you share—avoid disclosing major successes, financial milestones, or future plans until they are fully realized.
Delay sharing posts about travel or achievements, if possible, until after the event.
Ensure your intentions are pure: when you post, make sure it’s for the sake of inspiring and benefiting others.
5. Maintain Sincerity in Your Intentions
The Prophet (ﷺ) reminded us that actions are judged by intentions:
"Actions are but by intentions, and every person will have only that which they intended." (Sahih al-Bukhari 1)
Before posting or sharing content, pause and reflect:
Is this post truly for the sake of Allah?
Am I sharing this to inspire others toward good, or is there a desire for validation or attention?
By keeping your intentions pure and aligning them with the greater good, you can protect yourself from arrogance or pride, which can attract negative energy.
Final Thoughts: Trust in Allah, Protect Yourself, and Move Forward
As creatives and entrepreneurs, you are embarking on a journey that will inspire and benefit others. Don’t let the fear of the evil eye stop you from sharing your gifts and achieving your goals. Remember, your trust in Allah (Tawakkul) should be your greatest source of protection.
By practicing consistent Adhkar, keeping your intentions pure, and maintaining privacy about sensitive matters, you can continue moving forward in your creative work with confidence. The evil eye is a real concern, but with reliance on Allah and spiritual protection, you can break free from fear and focus on your mission.
As the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) taught us:
"Know that if the entire nation were to gather together to benefit you with anything, they would not benefit you except with what Allah has already written for you, and if they were to gather together to harm you with anything, they would not harm you except with what Allah has already written against you." (Narrated by Tirmidhi 2516)
May Allah protect you, bless your endeavors, and make your journey a means of inspiration for others.
Stay Blessed, Stay Protected, and Keep Creating,
Sarah ♡
